Celebrate in style at New Zealand Cup and Show Week

New Zealand’s most exciting and biggest spring festival, New Zealand Cup and Show Week, kicks off on Saturday 11 November 2017.

Christchurch is vibrant with entertainment and things to do throughout the city.  So there is plenty to do once the race or show action is over for the day.

This year’s festival is all about celebrating the thrill of a win, a night out with friends and getting a taste of rural life with the family at The Show. It’s a chance to dress up to the nines, to experience our region’s excellent food and wine while coming together to celebrate in style.

Whether you are looking for race or show action, or you just want to enjoy all that Christchurch and the Canterbury region has to offer.  New Zealand Cup and Show Week is a must do on your social calendar!

History

In 2005 the Christchurch City Council created the New Zealand Cup and Show Week umbrella brand to coordinate the growing number of national interest races and local icon events happening in Christchurch over this period.

The amalgamation of these events into New Zealand Cup and Show Week Festival created the opportunity to promote the festival as a national event that would bring significant economic benefits to Christchurch and reinforce local pride in the community.

Over subsequent years the festival has grown significantly and is now established as the highlight of the New Zealand racing calendar and a social occasion that attracts more than 190,000 people.
